On June 1, 2020 a peaceful protest was organized and held at the entrance of the Historic Bridle Path in downtown Upland, California.

The protest was organized by Upland High School graduates, Jorge Cortez Jr and Caden Stearns

The protest began at approximately 3:00 p.m. and remained contained within the median on Euclid.

Around 3:45 p.m. as a demonstration of respect the group took a knee for eight minuets in symbolic representation of George Floyd.

A group of counter protestors could be heard by witnesses at the scene shouting insults and racial slurs. The Protesters for the Black Lives Matter movement chose to ignore and continue with their chants for equality.

The protest was set to end at 5:00 p.m. and it was at around 4:25 that I decided to head home. Reports quickly circulated that a man had a gun at the protest and police were present.

Sometime after the suspect Jacob Bracken, 39 of Rancho Cucamonga, California removed what appeared to be an AR-15 type rifle from the backseat of a truck and proceeded to brandish the weapon at the crowd shouting expletives.

I have attached a video of the incident as it was captured by @AlexVnews. Warning the video contains explicit language.

Bracken was not known to be a resident of the home and was arrested by Upland Police.

There were also reports that Upland Police Department did employ the use of rubber bullets to disperse the crowd at 6:00 p.m. due to the curfew in place.
